  1. Great question. For me, it’s always easier to do what’s small and manageable than what’s big and unknowable. Vacation feels small, limited, low risk. Life is big, unlimited, change raises the fear of potentially high risk.

    I think the key is to break down potential life change into smaller and smaller pieces. Instead of saying, “I will be a champion runner by the end of the year” perhaps focus just on today: “I will put on my sneakers and run for 10 minutes with the dog.” When it feels small and manageable, we can handle it.

    Alternatively, consider an ant and a mountain. At first glance, the mountain seems mightier than the ant. But if that ant decides to move one minuscule piece of the mountain, every single day, it may realize one day that it has moved the entire mountain. We can be that ant. 🙂
