  1. I have often wondered why we naturally try to blame others when things go wrong. Sometimes I have to just pause and remember “I didn’t put my own shoe away, that is why I tripped over it” or whatever. I vacillate between wondering if there is truly a plan for everything and things do happen for a reason, or if life is more random. It isn’t anything I will be able to answer in this lifetime!

Good question! I think the Bible supports a both/and approach instead of an even/or one in answer to your question.

We can clearly see examples of when God ordained certain things to happen, and they happened according to his plan. And we see examples of things that seemingly happened by chance, or just because we live in a fallen world…yet God is able to redeem and use even those situations for his glory.

There have been times when I’ve tried to figure out a particular situation…but then realized that the best question for me to ask is not, “Why did this happen?”, but “Who will help me through it?” I may never discover the answer to the first question, but I do know the answer to the second. :)
