Best of Money Carnival: Work-Life Balance Edition

Top money blog postsThis week, I have the privilege of hosting Best of Money Carnival #113 at Life Compass Blog.

If this is your first time here, I welcome you and invite you to take some time to look around.  I write about how to create more focus, balance, freedom and fulfillment in your life and work.

Money is definitely an important topic here, because how we make it, save it, and spend it will all have an impact on our sense of life balance, freedom and fulfillment – in positive or negative ways.

Best of Money Carnival: Work-Life Balance Edition

More than 50 bloggers from around the world submitted their best money or personal finance blog post for consideration in this week’s Best of Money Carnival. I’ve narrowed them down to the top 10 money posts that relate to work-life balance:

10.  Are you making the most of your money? There’s a financial wind blowing in your life called compound interest. When it blows against you via consumer debt, it’s like trying to walk up a hill with a heavy load. But when it’s at your back, it’s amazing. Matt explains how to get it blowing in the right direction in Which Way Is The Financial Wind Blowing in Your Life? posted at Matt About Money.

9.  Are you doing the right things that will lead you to success in achieving your financial and other life goals?  Some actions are definitely more profitable and focused than others. Miss T. shares Three Important Lessons in Living Frugally, but Not Too Frugally, posted at Prairie Eco Thrifter.

8.  Do you understand your relationship with money? And do you know how to manage money in the way that works best for you, in accordance with your personality traits?  Jason gets personal in Credit Cards: My Failed Experiment at Live Real Now.

7.  What can you simplify or downsize in your life, to give you more freedom in other areas?  It’s a great question to ask anytime, but Boomer is thinking about the retirement years when he asks Should You Sell The Family Home? over at Boomer & Echo

6.  What are you doing now to help your kids develop good financial habits (and hopefully avoid some of the mistakes you’ve made in the past)? Your teen’s first car purchase can set a lifetime precedent.  Joe Plemon shows you how to use your parental influence to help your teen do it right in How to Help Your Child Purchase That First Car posted at Personal Finance By The Book.

best money blog posts5.  Have you diversified your income?  Creating multiple streams of income is one of the best ways to protect yourself financially. Neal Frankle presents Income Diversity: How It’s Done posted at Wealth Pilgrim.

4.  Are you happy in your work, or is it time to look for something different?  Yes, even in a down economy, you can find the work you were meant to do! Mike shares 3 Signs That You Should Quit Your Job over at Green Panda Treehouse

3.  Can you turn your passions into profits?  One way to diversify your income (see #5) is to start an online business doing something you’re passionate about.  Bob gives 11 Steps To Starting A Small Business Online at Christian Personal Finance.

2.  When’s the last time you re-examined your regular expenses?  There are a lot of regular expenses that we just pay every month without even thinking. Mr.Money presents 10 Regular Expenses That You Should Re-Examine To Find A Better Deal posted at Smart On Money.

1.  What would you do if money were no object?  It’s a great question I like to ask people who struggle with work-life balance, or figuring out their life purpose, because it helps us to think and dream big, focus our passions and interests, do the work we love, consider ways we can be a blessing to others, and often gives birth to an idea that could financially make our dreams come true. Kevin asks What Would You Do with a Million Dollars? over at Invest It Wisely.

Thanks again for reading my Best of Money Carnival picks for this week.  Before you go, please share your thoughts on how money (how you make, save/invest, or spend it) has had an impact on your sense of work life balance.

And be sure to read next week’s Best of Money Carnival, which is hosted by Money Help for Christians.

It was a lot of fun hosting the carnival, but it was definitely hard to narrow it down from over 50 submitted posts to the “top” 10.
