  1. I think one of the most effective ways to get hired by a company — especially a small business — is to put yourself in the shoes of the owners and empathize with their priorities. My family biz hired a guy who seems to really understand why certain things (like maintaining our equipment pro-actively) are extremely important to us, and he takes initiative to make sure this happens. He’s a fantastic hire.

  2. These are great tips. I also believe that being true to who you are will be seen in an interview. You have to set yourself different from the other applicants and show the interviewer that you’re fit for the job. Now that everyone is on the hunt for a job, the competition is harder.
